My Grandbaby

Ain't He Grand?????

Honeycomb...where have you been all my life???

Remember back in the good old days, when you could stop by a roadside produce stand and pick up a jar of honey with the honeycomb in it? Those were the days!

I've been searching for years for some, with no luck finding any. Alas....Mom and I were on the way to McKinney from my house, and we stopped by a huge produce stand to get a watermelon. Imagine the twinkle in my eye when I spotted jars of honey WITH THE HONEYCOMB IN THEM!!!! I was like a little kid (or a big fat woman) in a candy store!

Just opened the jar while ago and had my first taste of honeycomb in over 30 years, and I only have one word to describe it....

YUUUUMMMMYYYY!!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY DAD!

"The greatest gift I ever had
Came from God, and I call him Dad!"

Dad...I'm sorry I didn't call to wish you a Happy Father's Day. I was so busy with Micah at Camp Coffey, I forgot it was Father's Day! I bet you understand that more than anyone since you're with Micah and Logan 24/7, LOL! I'll get your gift certificate to you soon (bet you can't guess to where).

Thank you for always being there for me:) I am so grateful that you are still with us so that I can tell you how much I love you. Hope you had a wonderful day today and got to do the thing you love most, which is fishing:) I expect some fried fish when I come to town next weekend!

I LOVE YOU DADDY!

Singing in the Rain...

Rain? What's that? We haven't seen very much this Spring at all...almost drought like conditions. I was walking around my veggie garden yesterday and it was looking pretty pitiful, even though I water it at least 3 times a week. It was saying "Help me!!".

This morning I woke up to thunder and lightning, and rain, glorious rain! I looked out at my garden and I swear I could see the tomatoes tap dancing to the tune of "Singing in the Rain". They were happy little maters! It rained for about 3 hours and everything looked much better this afternoon. Of course, the poor pond is lower than its ever been, so we need some more good soakers before it'll be happy. I think the flower gardens liked the rain too. I've been waiting for this one Canna to bloom so I can see what color it is, and sure enough, after the rain, it bloomed late this afternoon. It is neon orange and yellow mixed. I've never seen one like it...really pretty. A friend in Georgia sent me a whole box of Canna bulbs last Summer, and this is the first one to bloom. I'll try to grab a picture of it tomorrow and post so I can share its beauty:)

My nephew Micah is coming to spend the week with me, Bill, and the dogs. He and Bill are going to camp out on our land tomorrow night...Micah is excited! I think Bill is too, LOL! I'm looking forward to spending time with the little fella...I miss him!! I plan to show him some neat birds, do alot of swimming in our Cannibal Pot swimming pool, and build a scarecrow with some of Bills old postal uniforms. Should be a fun week:) Looking forward to seeing my Mama too. She's bringing Micah. I'm trying real hard to find her a house here that she just can't resist..then her and Dad can sell out and move here:)

That's it for now...gotta go see what late night bargains I can find to buy and resell on Ebay:)

Adios!

STEP AWAY FROM THE SALT & VINEGAR PRINGLES!!!

They're all mine!! I love them so much...poor Bill never gets any of them, because I can devour a whole can in one day.

No wonder I'm so fat.....

Note to self...Call Bill and ask him to pick up some more on the way home from work....

Hello..my name is Angie and I am a Birdaholic....

Yep, you read it right..I'm a self admitted birdaholic. My current obsession is Green Herons:) We've lived here for almost 3 years, and have seen lots of herons at the pond. We have a Great Blue Heron that fishes in the pond several times a week. When I saw smaller bluish green birds at the pond, I just assumed it was Little Blues. But then about a week ago I saw a strange looking bird in one of the cedar trees in the backyard. Of course I ran and grabbed my trusty Birds of North America book to see if I could identify it. I couldn't find it, so I posted its details on one of my bird newsgroups, and someone suggested Green Heron. As it turned out, it IS a green Heron, but it's a juvenile one. Now I'm seeing a Mama (or Daddy) bird flying around with it, and those are what I thought were Little Blue Herons. Turns out they're not Little Blue, but GREEN HERONS! Learn something new everyday, LOL!

So now I can't wait to go out in the evenings and see what the Mama and Baby Green Herons are up to:) I grab my coffee and go out in the late evening, and there they are! They mostly sit in one of the big Pine trees in the front and talk to each other. They fly from tree to tree...I think Mama is giving the baby lessons or something. They are really cool to watch. The Mama flew real low right above my head a few days ago when I was feeding the fish in the pond. Of course, I covered my head, just in case she decided to "let er fly", LOL!

Of course, I am obsessed with other birds as well, but that's another story....

Tata for now!

What the heck is a Blog???

Mom started a blog awhile back, and told me about it. I hadn't the faintest idea what a Blog was, but alas, I checked it out, and here I am, LOL!

I figured if she has one, what the hell...I might as well have one too:)

In my blog, you'll hear about my 3 obsessions:

Birding

Gardening

Ebay

and an occasional OT (off topic) post about whatever I feel like writing about:)

So there you have it...I am officially a Blogger...who would've thunk it?

That's it for now...more to come shortly:)
